"Competition Kills Creativity" and More Pearls of Realdom From Busy Philipps
When it comes to being real, Busy Philipps is the realest. The actor, writer, producer, and director has a no-filter approach to her life and work and we can’t get enough. So, of course, we were thrilled to have her as our keynote at the recent Aerie RealTreat event in L.A and hear her incredible story—watch the video and be sure to write down all of your favorite quotes from the day.
Philipps has had an enviable career on screen that started with a role on Freaks and Geeks at 19 followed by the cult-classic TV show Dawson's Creek, Cougartown, and later on in the hit flicks White Chicks and I Feel Pretty. But her proudest achievement was being the host and creator of her own late night talk show, Busy Tonight which was created (which was sadly cancelled). Philipps was breaking new ground for female talk-show hosts—a space that has traditionally been dominated by men—and for that we applaud her. She is a real role model for all of us who are pushing boundaries and chasing their dreams.
The moderator for this discussion was our fearless C&C leader, Jaclyn Johnson. She’s the founder and CEO of Create & Cultivate, author of WorkParty, and host of the WorkParty podcast.
