She is independent, supportive, ambitious, and entrepreneurial—she is the modern woman and she is all of us. As modern women today, it’s our duty to pave the way for generations to come but that means we have to get comfortable with the uncomfortable—the status quo just won’t cut it anymore—we’re standing in our truth, speaking up, and turning societies quote-unquote “weaknesses” into our strengths.
It also means we have to pay it forward, raise each other up, and invest in ourselves and our dreams because that’s how we all rise to success. We were joined by four inspirational women we admire who are doing just that with their businesses and in their personal lives. These women are actively building businesses with the modern woman in mind so take a listen to hear how they’re doing things differently and how they’re speaking to her to meet her needs, where she is.

Power has successfully built a media brand and community around the modern women with Who What Wear—she sold two media brands earlier this year, Byrdie and MyDomaine to Dot Dash. On the back of Who What Wear’s success she has launched several collections for Target, Who What Wear Collection, Joylab, and a new clean skincare lined called Versed.
Jill Layfield | Co-Founder and CEO of Tamara Mellon
Before Layfield co-founded Tamara Mellon she was the CEO of Backcountry where she brought serious growth and innovation. As CEO of Tamara Mellon she continues to do the same with 2018 sales up 136%.
Suzanne Hall | Co-founder and editor-in-chief, The Chalkboard Mag
As a popular wellness lifestyle site, Hall has been at the forefront of the self-care movement since it started and watched it grow into a $10 billion business.
Iva Pawling | CEO & Co-founder, Richer Poorer and Pointe Studio
Pawling started her career at Kate Spade in the PR closet before helping her sister build the successful jewelry brand, Gorjana. She launched Richer Poorer in 2010 with Tim Morse and they’re now expecting over $10 million in sales this year alone.
