There’s a lot of information out there about whether or not cover letters are important. There’s no way to know for sure if someone will read your cover letter, but if they do read it, a great cover letter can make a huge difference when you’re applying for a job.

Even if you a put a lot of work into it, there’s an extent to which you can customize your resume. Your cover letter is your opportunity to share why you’re applying for this specific job and why you want to work for this particular company. Ultimately, companies want to hire (and invest) in candidates who care. If someone cares about the company and/or the position, it will likely be a better cultural fit and lead to less turnover. This is why it’s important to include specific information on your cover letter and show that you’ve put effort into the application.
